Watch: Lisa Troland in the Epstein files
1:08Narrated from the AI-generated summary of the documents. Numbers reflect the archive at generation time.
Lisa Troland was Dick Cavett's executive assistant. In emails from December 2016 to October 2017, she coordinated meetings, meals and a project budget between Cavett's office and Jeffrey Epstein's assistant, Lesley Groff.
Troland appears almost entirely in email threads with Lesley Groff, and 34 of the 83 documents have her in the From/To/Cc header. She signs as "Executive Assistant to Dick Cavett" and handles scheduling, such as coffee or lunch availability, Cavett being in Montauk, and call times. She also sent Groff a proposal and budget titled "American Masters: Dick Cavett." Many of the 83 documents are duplicate forwards or replies of the same few threads. The files show no flight logs, legal filings or financial records involving her.
Key Highlights
- •On Dec 7, 2016, Troland told Groff that Dick Cavett would be free on Friday the 16th for coffee or lunch. Otherwise, she said, they would try again after he returned to the city on Jan 5. Groff replied that she would pass the request to Jeffrey.
- •On Dec 23, 2016, Troland emailed Groff a proposal and budget for "American Masters: Dick Cavett." Later threads, including Jan 2017 follow-ups, discuss a detailed budget still to come. In one, Troland says Martha will have something by end of day.
- •In Jan 2017, Groff arranged a dinner for Cavett and forwarded Troland's reply, "Yes they are licking their chops!! Love it," with the note "Dick Cavett loves his dinner." That thread was forwarded to Epstein and others and shows up in many duplicate documents.
- •On Jan 11, 2017, Groff asked whether Cavett would come to lunch at Epstein's home again. Troland answered that Cavett was in Montauk. The word "again" suggests earlier visits.
- •On Jan 20, 2017, Troland forwarded Epstein a message headed "Budget discussion and sincere regrets for this evening." She later asked whether Cavett could still come to dinner that night and bring a guest.
- •Scheduling continued through Feb 2017, with Groff confirming plans for a Saturday in New York. It continued into Oct 2017, when Troland gave Cavett's arrival times and agreed to let him know of a message from Groff.
- •In the available text, Troland acts only as an assistant and intermediary. Nothing shows her having a personal relationship with Epstein or being involved in any wrongdoing.
