Michel Hazanavicius, the French director who won Best Director for The Artist (2012), met Jeffrey Epstein at a Paris dinner in March 2012, shortly after his Oscar win. They exchanged emails between March 2012 and January 2014, with documented meetings in Paris arranged through Epstein's assistant.

The documents include scheduling emails from Epstein's assistant Lesley Groff, confirming appointments at Epstein's Paris apartment, and direct email exchanges between Hazanavicius and Epstein discussing meetings and walks in Paris. According to French news reports, in June 2012, Epstein asked Hazanavicius if he could suggest 'a beautiful young girl' to accompany him to a film premiere; Hazanavicius responded that his wife was the only person matching that description, after which his partner Bérénice Bejo told him to 'flee this type' and they decided not to see Epstein again.
