And I am a man of my word, so I will call Jeffrey as planned at 11 on Saturday unless you insist otherwise. I understand that this is an extremely stressful time, that you're getting a lot of advice from many different quarters, and that having someone you trust talk to the person you're thinking of hiring can be very important. I understand where they're coming from, but it is just bad advice, full stop. I could give you dozens of examples where the only reason my clients got off--and we get a lot off--was because we fought hard to make the process fair. Moreover, no one will take seriously the constitutional law arguments of a physicist, no matter how famous he is. You need a lawyer to make those. I don't mean to be rude, but I have to be somewhat jealous with my time so I can focus on the cases in which people have decided to hire me. We spent a lot of time on the phone yesterday, which I was very happy to do, and I am willing to do a short call with Jeffrey, but I can't keep emailing about this. I have a limited amount of time, and I have to make sure that I am spending it as much as possible on my current clients. I assure you that if you hire me and someone else wants to keep talking about their case while they're deciding, I will tell them the same thing--that they have enough information to make a decision and just need to decide. Tell Jeffrey we may have to play phone tag, since my weekend schedule is a little up in the air. So he will need to leave me his number. I think 11 a.m. Eastern should work as a start if it works for him. Cc: Lawrence Krauss Subject: Re: Advice re Title IX investigation. what number should he call you on? And a good time? BTW when he cals. it says no caller ID on the phone.. (or I could give you his office number) I received similar advice this morning from a former trial lawyer who was also on the board of the Buletin of the Atomic Scientists with me.. He was the one who yesterday urged me to seek legal advice. but today he called to say I should get advice and assistance. but from his experience bringing a lawyer to represent me to these offices is a killer.. that indicatMg that I am not guilty and am wiling to work with the offices (with advice and assistance from a good lawyer in the background) is better. So. I wanted to know your thoughts about this. I assume we could still do a retainer etc and have you assist in every way, including investigation etc.. Thoughts? Sorry to take so much of your time, but this is obviously important to me and I want to handle it very carefuly. And once again. I am happy to pay for your time responding to this email if you want, and talking to Jeffrey. if you want. Lawrence Lawrence M. Hi Justin. I have a slightly unusual request. I have been advised through much of the BuzzFeed experience, both before and after, by a friend, who is also somewhat infamous. His name isJeffrey Epstein, and you may know who he is already. Bottom line Is that Jeffrey is not only friends with most of the famous people from finance, to business, to Hollywood, who have either been brought down during ',meta° and he also speaks regularly with people ranging from the awful white house people, who he is friends with, to ken start etc. He is concerned about exactly how we play this, as he thinks because of the variety and number of different things being discussed in the media and online, that this will be considered beyond title IX. I should say that all indications I have thus far do not suggest this. But anyway, Jeffrey would like to speak with you, as he has concerns about my having counsel who directly represent me in interactions with the University at this time vs having someone to act as an advisor and draft letters that I can send... I will pay for your time to do that if necessary. Would you be willing to do this in the next day or so? Please let me know, and I can get you contact Info. Thanks. Lawrence Lawrence M.
