Confidential Due Diligence Report 3 PUBLICATIONS Copyright 2007 N.Y.P. Holdings, Inc. All Rights Reserved The New York Post September 6 2007 Thursday SECTION: All Editions; Pg. 14 LENGTH: 159 words HEADLINE: WHITEWATER MAN ON SEX CASE BODY: BILLIONAIRE money manager Jeffrey Epstein has brought in a hired gun to help defend charges brought against him in Palm Beach, Fla., of soliciting prostitutes for sex. Epstein - who was already repped by top defense lawyers Gerald Lefcourt and Roy Black and appeals expert Alan Dershowitz - has hired former Whitewater special prosecutor Ken Starr to make the misdemeanor case go away. Asked about Starr's hiring, Epstein's spokesman, Howard Rubenstein, had no comment. Last year, Starr, who was president of Pepperdine University, argued before the U.S. Supreme Court that an Alaska school had the right to suspend a student for unfurling a "Bong Hits 4 Jesus" banner. Starr is also repping Blacicwater, the private security firm being sued by the families of four contractors killed in Fallujah, Iraq, in 2004. "Epstein is worried he could be targeted by federal prosecutors, and Starr is still very well-connected with Republicans," said one source.
