Who is Michael Link in the Epstein files?

He is a correspondent who emailed Jeffrey Epstein and his assistant Lesley Groff throughout 2018 and into January 2019. Most of the 124 emails with him in the header are about setting up Skype calls, phone calls and one in-person meeting. The files don't give his occupation or the purpose of the contacts, so his role can't be stated from the documents alone.

Did Michael Link meet Epstein in person?

The files show plans to meet, but not confirmation. In January 2018 Link asked when Epstein would be back in Palm Beach, and in October 2018 Groff confirmed a Tuesday 10am meeting at Epstein's home. Link then wrote that he was in Dallas and would Skype instead. Most of the contact in the files was by Skype or phone.

Is the Michael Link in the investment records the same person?

Probably not. One document quotes a news article about Germany's deputy foreign minister Michael Link commenting on an EU report. Nothing connects that politician to the emailer in the Epstein correspondence, who writes from Dallas and Skypes with Epstein. The two should not be treated as the same person.

Do the documents suggest wrongdoing by Michael Link?

No. The files show routine scheduling, brief personal exchanges and a few unexplained references, such as medical records and 'files'. Being in Epstein's correspondence is not evidence of misconduct. The archive does not say what the calls covered.

Watch: Michael Link in the Epstein files

1:09

Narrated from the AI-generated summary of the documents. Numbers reflect the archive at generation time.

Michael Link appears in the archive mainly as a direct correspondent of Jeffrey Epstein and his assistant Lesley Groff in 2018 and early 2019. The emails are mostly about arranging Skype calls and in-person meetings. The files don't say what his job was or what the calls were about.

Of the 150 documents that mention him, 144 are emails, and he is in the From/To/Cc header of 124 of them. The messages run from January 2018 to January 2019. Link writes to Epstein directly, and in the autumn of 2018 he coordinates with Lesley Groff, who handles Epstein's scheduling. Epstein's calendar entries for October and November 2018 list Skype calls with him, and a Skype call log shows missed calls between his account and Epstein's. Only 2 of the 150 documents are substantive non-email records, and neither explains the relationship. One further document, an investment-records item, quotes a news article about Germany's deputy foreign minister Michael Link. That is almost certainly a different person with the same name.

Key Highlights

•In the October 2018 emails, Groff confirms a 10am Tuesday meeting for Link at Jeffrey's home. Link later writes that he is in Dallas and will Skype instead. An alert in the files says he needed to confirm the Tuesday 10am slot, and the exact time shifts across the thread.
•Epstein's calendar lists a 9:00am Skype call with Michael Link in October 2018 and a 10:45am Skype call in November 2018, with Link's Skype address noted. In November, Link emailed Groff asking for timing on the call, and she replied that nothing was set yet and she would remind Epstein.
•In an April 2018 exchange, Link asks Epstein 'MBA, PhD, or neither?' and Epstein replies 'phd'. Link then says he finds it unfortunate that a PhD and natural intelligence are not on an equal playing field, and that he sees the value in it. The files don't show what the question was about.
•On April 29, 2018, Epstein emailed Link: 'where are your files. get moving!!' On April 13, 2018, Link emailed Epstein an update about medical records, and Epstein replied 'ok'. The text of that update is cut off in the files, so the context is unclear.
•In January and March 2018, Link asks when Epstein will be back in Palm Beach and proposes getting together. In March they settle on a Skype or phone call, with an exchange about whether 2PM CST means 3 central or eastern. The Skype call log has Link asking 'Are you in Palm Beach?' and telling Epstein to 'Enjoy Paris!'.
•Dallas appears alongside his name in 20 documents, and 'Eastern' in 11. These match the time-zone and location coordination in the scheduling emails and don't point to anything else on their own. His 7 shared documents with Marc Rich are not explained in the files reviewed.
