Watch: Brooke Lange in the Epstein files
1:04Narrated from the AI-generated summary of the documents. Numbers reflect the archive at generation time.
Brooke Lange appears in the files as a scheduling aide in Gov. Bill Richardson's Santa Fe office. In dozens of emails from 2013 to 2018, she arranged meetings and calls between Richardson and Jeffrey Epstein, mostly through Epstein's assistant Lesley Groff.
All 71 documents are emails, and 59 of them have Lange in the From, To or Cc line. Most are short logistics exchanges with Lesley Groff. They cover lunch and breakfast plans, the Governor's travel to New York, phone numbers, and when Epstein would be at his New Mexico ranch. She signs as "Office of Governor Bill Richardson, 216 Washington Ave., Santa Fe, NM." Epstein's own contact lists name her as Richardson's assistant. The files contain no legal, financial or investigative records about her. They show her doing her job as an aide, not anything that suggests wrongdoing by her.
Key Highlights
- •Most of the emails are with Lesley Groff, Epstein's assistant. Lange coordinated Richardson's calendar with Epstein's, and some threads are titled "Jeffrey Epstein" or "Gov in NYC March 27-28."
- •In a July 2013 thread, Lange wrote that the Governor had spoken with Robert Redford but that Redford did not want to do something (the text is cut off). Groff said she would send the message to "JE." Later emails discuss a lunch on Aug. 14 and getting Epstein and Redford together in August, and ask whether it was fine for the Governor not to attend the lunch.
- •In July 2013, Groff told Lange that Epstein would be at his ranch from Sept. 22 with no plane. Lange then noted that Epstein would be in Santa Fe in September rather than August.
- •In September 2013, Lange wrote that the Governor had asked to come by Epstein's office to meet. Groff answered that the office was his house and that they no longer had the office on Madison.
- •In August 2015, Lange confirmed a cell number for Epstein. Groff's forward of that message says the number belongs to Ghislaine (Maxwell). Lange's side of the exchange does not say whom the number belongs to.
- •In March 2018, Lange and Groff arranged a breakfast on Tuesday, March 27 at 8:30 am and compared the Governor's and Epstein's New York dates. Groff wrote that Epstein would arrive on March 28 and stay until March 31.
- •Other emails from 2015 and 2016 cover confirming appointments, a delivery address, and the timing of a planned visit.
