What is DryShips Inc. in the Epstein files?

It appears only as a name inside a copied Wikipedia biography of George Economou, which describes him as CEO of DryShips Inc. and Ocean Rig. It shows up in nine files, eight emails and one government-records file. The files do not show the company doing anything or communicating with anyone.

Did DryShips have any dealings with Jeffrey Epstein according to the documents?

The files don't show any. No email lists DryShips in its sender or recipient lines, and none describes a transaction, meeting or agreement. The company is named only in background text about Economou.

Why are Prince Andrew, Stephen Hawking and others listed as connected to DryShips?

Those connections only mean the names appear in the same nine documents as DryShips. The same files cover many other people and subjects, so a shared document doesn't show that those people have any link to the company.

What is DryShips Inc. outside the files?

DryShips is a Greek-run shipping company that owned dry bulk carriers and, for a time, was linked to the offshore drilling company Ocean Rig. George Economou, the businessman described in the copied article, was its CEO. For the company's history and later restructurings, see its Wikipedia entry.

Watch: DryShips Inc. in the Epstein files

1:04

Narrated from the AI-generated summary of the documents. Numbers reflect the archive at generation time.

DryShips Inc. appears in nine files, and every time it's in the same passage: a copy of the Wikipedia biography of Greek shipping billionaire George Economou, which names him as CEO of DryShips and Ocean Rig. The files show no direct dealings between the company and Jeffrey Epstein.

All nine mentions come from one repeated block of text, the opening of the Wikipedia article on George Economou. It says he is a Greek billionaire shipowner, CEO of DryShips Inc. and Ocean Rig, and owner of Cardiff Marine. Eight of the nine are emails and one is a government-records file (EFTA00010710). None of the emails has DryShips in the From, To or Cc line. The company is named only as part of a description of Economou, so the files say nothing about any transaction, meeting or correspondence involving DryShips itself.

Key Highlights

•The only mention of DryShips in the archive is one repeated sentence from Economou's Wikipedia biography: he is CEO of DryShips Inc. and Ocean Rig and owns Cardiff Marine.
•The same text shows up in nine separate files (eight emails and one government-records file), which suggests one saved or forwarded web page recurring across the files.
•No emails were sent to or from DryShips (0 direct correspondence). The company is not described as doing anything in any of the documents.
•The archive lists many other entities, including Prince Andrew and Stephen Hawking, as connected to DryShips through nine shared documents. These links come from the entities appearing in the same files. They do not show a relationship with the company.
•Any link to Epstein would run through George Economou or whoever saved the article, not through the company. The files do not say why the article was saved.
