Watch: Russell Crowe in the Epstein files
1:04Narrated from the AI-generated summary of the documents. Numbers reflect the archive at generation time.
The files contain no evidence that actor Russell Crowe communicated with Jeffrey Epstein. Most of the name matches are emails from a "Bob Crowe" to Epstein, and the actor is mentioned only in passing in a few other documents.
The largest group of matches is direct correspondence between Epstein ([email protected]) and a person named Bob Crowe. These emails date from at least January to June 2016, and one thread is titled "WADE." Nothing in the headers ties Bob Crowe to the New Zealand actor, and those emails shouldn't be read as the actor's. The actor is named in a few places: news-style articles about Epstein's lawyer Gerald Lefcourt, whose past clients are listed as including "Russell Crowe, Martha Stewart and Abbie Hoffman." He also appears in a third-party newsletter-style memo that jokes that Hugh Jackman's "impeccable manners should insure best behavior from Russell Crowe" on the set of Les Misérables. The remaining matches are other "Crowe" names: a Palm Beach condo owner listed as Robert B. Crowe, the Pettus Crowe Foundation, the court case Crowe v. Coleman, and a bank program called Crowe.
Key Highlights
- •The files contain a run of 2016 emails between Epstein and a "Bob Crowe," including a thread headed "WADE." This is the main source of the high "shared document" counts with Jeffrey Epstein and Bob Crowe. Nothing in the headers connects this person to the actor.
- •Russell Crowe is named only as a former client of attorney Gerald Lefcourt, who later represented Epstein. The passage appears in news coverage reproduced in several legal-file documents. It describes Lefcourt's background and says nothing about Crowe and Epstein.
- •One memo-style document mentions him in a joke about the Les Misérables production, relayed from Universal executive Donna Langley. It describes no contact with Epstein.
- •Several matches have nothing to do with the actor. These include a Palm Beach property record for Robert B. Crowe, a charitable foundation, a federal court case (Crowe v. Coleman, 11th Cir.), and a bank deposit program.
- •The files include no flight log entry, meeting record, or correspondence that places the actor with Epstein. The connections to Alan Dershowitz and Nelson Mullins most likely come from the same legal documents and from the name overlap.
