Watch: Nashville in the Epstein files
1:08Narrated from the AI-generated summary of the documents. Numbers reflect the archive at generation time.
Nashville appears in the files almost entirely as a place name: in addresses, biographies, court captions, news digests and billing boilerplate. The files show no travel, meetings or correspondence tying Jeffrey Epstein to the city.
The most substantive items are a July 2019 FBI tip-line summary titled "Information Regarding Multiple Criminal Allegations such as Human Sex Trafficking in Nashville, TN to NYC," and a news article in the House Oversight material about an accuser who now lives near Nashville. Most other appearances are incidental. These include addresses for Laffer Associates and BellSouth billing, a lawyer's court appearance, expert-witness and speaking histories, and a Carvana proxy statement. Many are FBI news-digest items about unrelated Nashville stories. Several legal records name "Nashville, IN," a different town in Indiana, as the source of a newspaper item about Epstein's conviction. Seventeen emails are automated Concierge Auctions newsletters sent to Epstein's own Yahoo account. They advertise a property "centrally located between Nashville, Memphis, and Birmingham." No email in the archive has Nashville in a sender or recipient field.
Key Highlights
- •A July 2019 FBI incident summary (EFTA00174720) records an e-tip alleging multiple crimes, including human sex trafficking "in Nashville, TN to NYC." The excerpt shows it as submitted for opening on 07/16/2019. The files do not show what became of it or whether it was substantiated.
- •A news article in the House Oversight documents describes an Epstein accuser, "now an adult living near Nashville," recalling her experience at his Palm Beach mansion while in high school. Nashville is her current residence, not the location of any alleged abuse.
- •Laffer Associates is at 103 Murphy Court, Nashville. Its chief of staff emailed an economics paper by Dr. Laffer to New York Times reporter Landon Thomas Jr. This is ordinary professional correspondence with a Nashville-based firm.
- •Several legal records repeat a 2017 item from the Brown County Democrat of Nashville, Indiana, about Epstein's 2008 guilty plea and 13 months in jail. That is Nashville, Indiana, not Tennessee, and it explains many of the legal-document hits.
- •Many FBI news-digest items mention Nashville outlets and stories: a bank robbery, an extortion case against Nashville-based Asurion, MS-13 prosecutions, and a Tennessee teen in a sexploitation case. They are unrelated to Epstein. One item says a COVID exposure happened on a charter flight from Nashville to New York after the final 2020 presidential debate.
- •Billing notices for BellSouth and a credit-card company list Nashville addresses. Biographies and CVs list Nashville as the site of medical conferences, trial-lawyer events and a past lawsuit. A Vanderbilt University chancellor is listed in a corporate board document.
- •Nashville also shows up in a list of casinos and hotels by location, and in a list of offices on a legal form.
