Surfacing=more often as items savants know but never learned is calendar calculating= periodic table, solar system, geography. While not universal,=calendar calculating as an inherited 'chip' seems nearly so. Calendar calculating can be learned and some Neurotypical= (NP) do so. But in savants, and some NP children, it seems factory =nstalled. And I am convinced they are using a different, unconscious= circuitry. That could be tested. As an aside, I was astounded by a young child at the Treffert Center who seemed to know=an astronomical amount of knowledge which his parents and I thought he had=no access to prior. Turns out he (age 4) discovered Google on =is computer/ipad.
