Dear Peggy, Sir Elton John and David Furnish at Home for the Elton John AIDS Foundation THURSDAY 22nd JUNE 2017 Woodside Gallery, Woodside, Crimp Hill Old Windsor, Berkshire, United Kingdom Our Woodside Gallery Dinner last year was a truly memorable event. With inspiration from the then U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, and soaring arias from the magnificent Andrea Bocelli and Maria Aleida, plus mind boggling magic from Lior Suchard, all sewn together by our emcee David Walliams, it was one of the happiest evenings we can remember at our home. This year's Woodside Gallery Dinner, with the generous support of our friends at BVLGARI, promises to be as magical. We are so excited that legendary performer Joan Ban, who has not only created her own iconic classics, but has fabulously reinterpreted music by everyone from Bob Dylan and Stevie Wonder to the Rolling Stones, Ryan Adams and Josh Ritter, will perform for us. Elton is looking forward to sharing a stage with her for the first time ever. EFTA_R1_00945125 EFTA02216202
The wonderful David Walliams will look after us as emcee and we have some very special VIP guests confirmed. As well as being fabulous fun, events like the Woodside Gallery Dinner do so much good. You may remember a young man named Leslie who spoke at last year's event. When he was a child, Leslie's grandmother died of AIDS. He was at her bedside. Today, Leslie works to educate the LGBT community in South Africa about HIV. He travels to townships and slums, providing HIV testing and referring those who need it to clinics where they will not be shamed or turned away. Thanks to your generosity, this work has expanded to 200 clinics nationally. We visited one in July with the South African Minister of Health, Aaron Motsoaledi, who told us that the success of these services in preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS is helping the South African government to now afford funding all medical HIV treatment for its people without external support. Also last July, I joined HRH Prince Harry onstage at the International AIDS Conference in Durban to talk about the critical need to help adolescents living with HIV. We urged the international community not to give up on this precious group when we have had so much success fighting the epidemic amongst adults, mothers and babies. Reaching adolescents is our last huge global challenge in the fight against AIDS. There are so many pressing issues EFTA_R1_00945126 EFTA02216203
that call for our attention today. I cannot tell you how grateful David and I and everyone at the Foundation are that you continue to share our passion and our vision for a future where AIDS is not something our children or our grandchildren will have to worry about. Healthy societies, at home and abroad, mean less instability or dependence on others. We believe it is not only possible but essential. We do hope you will join us in June so we can continue the work of the Foundation. You can download your invitation to purchase tickets to this year's Woodside Gallery Dinner below. With your support, we will fight the stigma, stop new infections and save countless lives. In the meantime, if you need any further information on the Woodside Gallery Dinner, please do not hesitate to contact Glenn Horder at the Foundation as per contact details below. I would change my flight and come a day earlier. It would mean a lot to me. Can you please tell me how much one seat is and possibly squeeze me in? I am sorry to be so late but my office has been emailing, probably the wrong people, for three weeks. As mentioned, would love to see David and continue support after working on Cannes event. Thank you in advance.
