This preliminary inquiry is, according to the rules contained in Article 11 of the French code of criminal procedure, covered by secrecy, in the sense that only the investigators and prosecutor's office have access to witness interviews in EFTA00084091

relation to the investigation. Violating this secrecy is punishable by up to one year in prison. Attorneys, witnesses, and victims that are part of the investigation do not hove access to the file. However, as you have no doubt already inferred, the media interest created by this matter is such that a variety of information has been distributed, against our wishes. We are there not in position to guarantee total confidentiality in relation to information provided officially as part of the investigation. Nevertheless, we thought that an informal exchange would be desirable, in a restricted setting, with our counterparts in New York. A la suite de l'échange téléphonique avec Aude Groualle du 4 septembre dernier, je suis en mesure de vous confirmer les éléments suivants : Le parquet de Paris a confié une enquête pénale au Groupe Central des Mineurs Victimes (GCMV) de l'Office Central pour la Répression des Violences aux Personnes (OCRVP) depuis le vendredi 23 août 2019, des chefs de viols et agressions sexuelles commis notamment au préjudice de mineurs. Cette enquête préliminaire est, selon les règles de l'article 11 du code de procédure pénale, couverte par le secret, de sorte que seuls les enquêteurs et le parquet ont accès aux auditions et procès-verbaux de la procédure.
