This is a confidential April 2023 memorandum from the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General (OIG) to the FBI regarding the draft report on Jeffrey Epstein's death.
The document serves as a transmittal memo for the OIG's draft report investigating the Federal Bureau of Prisons' handling of Jeffrey Epstein at the Metropolitan Correctional Center. It formally requests the FBI conduct a factual accuracy and sensitivity review of the report before its public release, with a deadline of April 17, 2023. The memo emphasizes strict confidentiality protocols, requiring the FBI to maintain access logs and limit distribution only to necessary personnel for review purposes. This represents a procedural step in the government's official investigation into the circumstances surrounding Epstein's 2019 death in federal custody.
