Document EFTA00027708 is an email thread from August 2020 regarding a subpoena issued by the Attorney General's Office of the U.S. Virgin Islands (U.S.V.I. AG) related to Jeffrey Epstein's accounts.
The email exchange discusses whether to comply with a request from the U.S.V.I. AG for copies of subpoenas and related productions that Deutsche Bank received concerning Jeffrey Epstein. Attorneys debate the legal basis for potentially withholding the subpoena itself, while generally agreeing to provide the documents already produced in response to the subpoena. The U.S.V.I. AG's investigation is described as essentially trying to copy the original investigation.

I don't know if we listed a statute in our subpoena that would trigger the mandatory non-disclosure provision USVI was able to rely on, but if we listed money laundering that would get us there. As for the documents we received pursuant to subpoena, I don't really see a basis to push back on that, but let me know if you disagree. Deutsche Bank has received a third-party subpoena from the Attorney General's Office of the U.S. Virgin Islands in connection with a pending civil suit they have filed against Jeffrey Epstein's estate, the executors of the estate, and others. One of the requests is for a copy of any government subpoenas received by the Bank relating to Epstein, and a copy of any productions made pursuant to the subpoenas. Do we have your permission to disclose your subpoena and our production to you to the U.S.V.I. AG? Would you prefer us to refer the office to you directly or provide you with contact information? I'm happy to send you a copy of the U.S.V.I. AG subpoena if helpful in evaluating the request.
