An email from the U.S. Attorney's Office (SDNY) to Roberta Kaplan's law firm regarding victims' rights at Jeffrey Epstein's July 2019 bail hearing.
This is an internal legal coordination email dated July 10-11, 2019, between federal prosecutors and attorneys at Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP, who represented an Epstein victim. The SDNY prosecutor reaches out to inform defense attorneys about their client's rights under the Crime Victims' Rights Act (18 U.S.C. 3771) to be heard at Epstein's upcoming bail hearing. The prosecutor offers to include victim statements in the government's bail submission due that Friday. This document shows the behind-the-scenes coordination between prosecutors and victim attorneys in the days before the historic July 15, 2019 bail hearing where victims Annie Farmer and Courtney Wild testified.
