During the construction (1595-1610) his son was born - le Dauphin. The two words - "a dauphin" and "a dolphin" are written and pronounced exactly the same way in French language. So Henri IV ordered to decorate the walls with dolphins. These dolphins disappeared when this part of the Palace was reconstructed in XIX century, but I suppose that the accompanying Coral Stones have survived this reconstruction, as well as stones with Wave ornaments situated further on the same wall.
