Just back from La Jolla (Venter, Thaler, Rama, and JJ!). Good time. And you? I crave gossip! Don't know what to do about the Billionaires' Dinner. I like seeing this crowd, and this is the opportunity, but I find attending TED and being in Long Beach too painful. Last year I sat with Paul Allen for the first session, we went to lunch together, and he drove the to airport and went back to Seattle. Smart boy. The other problem is that Anderson is now inviting lots and lots of my clients. Mixing the academics up with the moguls doesn't work, and, in addition, he stupidly encourages them to bring their wives. Hence last year I had to do the dinner in absolute secret, which was a real strain since I have a business and its not a good idea to insult the people who make money for you. What to do? My only thought is to stay in LA and see if I can get people to come drive there but no sense either in raining on Anderson's parade. Perhaps, though, the last night that people are usually there. Any feedback appreciated. Will you be in town soon? I may need advice about what to do about the farm. We're now there alone, on 100 acres with 9 bedrooms, and it's too much. KM wants to buy a house.
