It is not in his best interest to be underhand at all, he is very professional and shafting a client is no way to get repeat business. I think he is also getting some conflicting info from both Olivier and Terje, but as I am the one who called him on your behalf, he considers you the primary buyer to offer for the stone so would never do anything until you had made your decision- after that, he would look for other buyers which I am sure he could find. Also, bear in mind that Olivier is coming at this from a very different angle. That said, he reckons the stone is about $1/carat which is slightly less than I said, but I haven't seen it and he does say the colour is a little more pale than the certificate would suggest. The other option is $20 for the stone all in - which I think is a fair price bearing in mind it is still a bloody big blue diamond! So anything you offer under that would be a deal, but will depend on how desperate the seller is to make the sale. I have no idea what sort of commission Olivier and Terje are looking for, if any, but I can't imagine they are doing this out of the goodness of their hearts.... You are very welcome to speak to Humphrey directly - am totally unfussed - his UK mobile isMEI Call me if you need xx EFTA00630968
