Albert Bryan Jr. announced on Wednesday that all public schools in the territory will remain closed for the balance of the 2019-20 school year, as the COVID-19 virus continues to spread and make close social contact a risk. Yet, as classes will continue online, 53% of students territorywide do not own a computer and 34% do not own a handheld computer or smartphone. Read the story at www.dailynews.vi St. John residents reinvent themselves in time of crisis Like many others across the globe, St. John resident Cory Emerson watched on social media as members of her community expressed fear, doubt, and uncertainty in response to the COVID-19 crisis. “I was scrolling Facebook and saw friends asking for deliveries, wondering if anyone would be willing to bring food to them,” said Emerson, a first mate on a charter boat who’s out of work while the tourism industry is on hold decided to help out.
