Under the lantern, check under the battery cover and ensure the battery contact is secure with the terminals. Put the slider switch in the ON position. Place the unit in direct sunshine, allow charging in full sunlight for a minimum of 8 hours daily. In the beginning, an initial charge of up to 24 hours may be necessary. This may involve charging the unit consecutively over 2 or 3 days with the switch in the OFF position at night to prevent it discharging. After the 3rd day, the switch can be left on continuously. The unit will light up automatically at dusk and will go off at dawn or when the unit is completely discharged, whichever happens sooner.
